ElJay C. At last, a true-to-life portrait of ElJay, the Web-Dancing Frog™. Writer, author, baudy raconteur, wine-lover and office-gossip, he has always eluded our camera. Finally, we recognized his lively portrait as drawn by Tom Regner of the California pompous twits. ElJay's saucy persistance won him his own Tech-Talk column in many issues of Art & Craft Show Yellow Pages™. He has a way with words, wine, and dark chocolates. Betty Chypre Our Mission : I wrote "our" mission at the top of the page, because truly, no man is an island. We all need help to achieve our goals, -not employees, necessarily, but friends and co-workers in the truest sense of the word. Twenty years as a production craftsman proved it was all but impossible to find detailed show information. We designed Art & Craft Show Yellow Pages to fill that need . My best friend, husband and partner, Lou Chypre. His behind-the-scenes support guided my business when I worked with clay and metals. He built displays and helped at shows. Now he keeps accounts balanced and manages the business side of our creative venture. My Guild: an ongoing source of inspiration for their innovative business solutions, for the candor of their mistakes, -so I could learn without having to go through the pain of making the same old mistakes . Who is Betty Chypre?
The listings of art and craft shows, tips and techniques on effective display techniques, marketing, etc. on this site are the culmination of Betty Chypre's experience as a craftsman.
An enthusiastic member of the Hudson Valley Artisans' Guild, she has documented tips, techniques, art and craft marketing ideas, display techniques and information revealed at workshops by professional craftsmen and artists for almost 20 years. These have been published in more than 70 issues of the Hudson Valley Artisans' Guild Newsletter. Her monthly articles appear in trade publications across the nation including the National Crafts Association's newsletter, Craftmaster News, Arts and Crafts Show Business, and Arts Councils and Guild Workshops from New Orleans, Ohio, Oswego, NY, and elsewhere across the nation.
Like you, she spent time and money on long-distance phone calls to find out if an art and craft fair was indoors, - or outdoors, -if there was security, electricity, - the size of the spaces, and most important: what else was going on, on-site, that might influence sales! (Think about donkey rides, a ferris wheel, a fireman's parade at noon.) Each one has an impact on your sales, for better or worse.

Some time ago Betty came
across this quote, and adopted it as a way of life and work:
" Be diligent.
Be Meticulous. Be Honest. Account for every
variable . Acknowledge
that which you do not know, then at the first opportunity, learn it. Believe
in yourself. That is our system. Honor it, and it will support you like
a rock."

classical Treatise on the Principles and Art of Clinical
Medicine . Guiding words and ideas
are found in arcane places; she recognized her
beliefs in these words. We hope they inspire you
